Carlisle & Hadrian's Wall
Carlisle stands proudly on the English and Scottish borders and blends its unique and colourful heritage perfectly with all the attractions and amenities of a modern, vibrant city. Shopping is a must with an array of high street names and specialist shops all contained in a traffic-free environment. Carlisle also occupies a unique position as the Gateway City to the western stretch of the 80-mile long Hadrian’s Wall, World Heritage Site.

Ullswater & Eden Valley
Located on the tranquil eastern side of Cumbria, the dramatic landscapes to be found here are guaranteed to refresh, inspire and rejuvenate. Wander the gently curving shoreline of Ullswater or take on the challenge of Helvellyn.
This is also prime cycling country. Nestled between the North Pennines and the Lakeland peaks lies the Eden Valley – a landscape of undulating meadows, beautiful villages and lively market towns. The area’s varied history has left a wealth of enchanting castles, historic homes and impressive henges and stone circles to discover.

Alston & North Pennines
The North Pennines is a landscape of high, wild moorland, cut through by green, settled dales and impressive natural features. This is the perfect country for walking, cycling, horse-riding and bird watching. Nestled among the majestic North Pennine fells is Alston, England’s highest market town, where old stone buildings cling to the side of the steep cobbled streets and narrow lanes lead to hidden passageways.

Keswick & Western Lakes
Keswick nestles on the shores of Derwentwater with the dominating backdrop of Skiddaw and Blencathra and offers a wealth of outdoor activities and a busy programme of events and festivals. Just a short journey away is the wonderfully contrasting landscape of the western lakes – an incredible area of untamed and untouched beauty. As you approach the Cumbrian coastline, you will discover charming seaside ports and market towns and when you get there will be rewarded with long sandy beaches, towering cliffs and beautiful sunsets.

Coniston & Lakes Peninsulas
Coniston Water on a still day mirrors the beautiful Lakeland fells that surround it and has a shoreline made for picnics. With the sparkling seas stretching out into the horizon, gentle, rolling countryside inland, a fascinating maritime history and rich religious heritage, the nearby Lake District Peninsulas offer a rewarding combination of countryside, coast and culture with charming villages and seaside resorts.

Kendal & South Lakes
From the lively market town of Kendal offering an eclectic mix of arts and culture, quaint cobbled streets and yards and an enjoyable shopping experience to the majestic fells and sparkling lakes which form the very essence of the famous South Lakeland landscape – this is a spectacular area of the county. Add to this a cluster of bustling Lakeland towns and villages, peaceful valleys and traditional squares and courtyards and you have the perfect holiday destination.

Sedbergh & Yorkshire Dales
With meadows rich with flowers and dry stonewalls climbing up the rounded domes of the Howgill Fells, this area has a character all of its own. From the attractive old market town of Sedbergh with its engaging mix of historic buildings and cobbled yards to the whitewashed cottages of the idyllic hill farming village of Dent. Ivy clad Georgian buildings and quaint cottages line the narrow alleys and courtyards of Kirkby Lonsdale tucked away in the beautiful valley of the River Lune.
